WWW: Excellent image and an effective colour scheme EBI: Typography and attention to detail. The cover lines are too small in places. You mix serif font with sans serif fonts Inconsistent capitalisation(e.g. Park city)

Men's Health Audience

1) How does the magazine introduce itself? The magazine introduces itself and it's brand by firstly telling the potential advertisers about how Men's Health is the biggest selling men's lifestyle magazine in the UK and worldwide, which instantly gains the interest of advertisers potentially wanting to work with Men's Health. By gaining this initial attention it then delves into what the magazine features with mention of what the advertisers may want to advertise with "fashion, watches and travel". 2) What does the introduction suggest about the representation of masculinity in Men's Health? The introduction of the magazine gives readers an idea of masculinity being about "visually engaging health" which is what people aspire towards in the modern day as this has become the ideal image of a man, while also appealing to the female gaze. The introduction also mentions how the magazine features "nutritional features" which continues to appe...

Men's Health Analysis: Blog Task

1) Write a one-paragraph summary of your notes for each key concept from the booklet: Media Language  (e.g. conventions, narrative, genre etc.) The genre is easily communicated through the typography, colour scheme; which heavily represents contemporary masculinity, the themes represented on the front cover, and the mise en scene. This is due to the fact that the costume that Vin Diesel is wearing is what a typical Men's Health reader may wear when doing sporting activities as well as carrying out day to day activities. The lighting clearly highlights Vin Diesel's muscles, which refers back to the idea of hypermasculinity. The cover lines of the magazine help display how masculinity has adapted over time as it refers to losing weight, as well as deals with themes like mental health, both of which would not have been seen on a Men's health cover 20/30 years ago. Media Industries  (e.g. Hearst Communications) ...

Learner Resposne

Advertising assessment: Learner response 1) WWW: There were clear elements  during your assessment  that showed theory and reversion , however there was not enough to reach the high grades but their was a clear understanding  of theories EBI: You need to add consistency/stamina across the whole paper. In Q3 you lose your way and the second half of the essay feels like you're not sure on  your point. You lack focus on the question too. Planning will help with this - it's essential for 20+ mark questions. When using theory, make sure you apply it to the text. A couple of time you mention Butler but not how her ideas are reflected in the product. 2) "Female desire – woman as active sexual agent, empowered sexuality (third-wave feminism, McRobbie). Arguably reflects a changing representation of women post-1980s." 3) I would rate my revision and preparation a 5 4) For Question 1, I should have included things such as facial expressions (which fall...

Magazine Practical Task Planning

Summer Style - 12 Tips to provide you with the best look for summer 2) Plan the  image  you will need for the cover - model, costume, make-up, lighting etc. At this point, simply describe the image you need to capture.  The male model standing slightly to the right with a long shot providing a look on the whole outfit from head to toe therefore the shoes to the accessorises can all be seen as a taster of what is inside the magazine. 3) Write the  cover lines  and any additional text you need for your magazine cover. Coachella summer outfits  Performance Rating of Coachella  Original  Holiday Outfits  Casual Layering 4)  Sketch  out your cover on plain A4 paper using your written planning. Take a  photo  of your sketch and embed it in your blog post.

Front Cover Plan

One example of a magazine I may attempt to recreate is GQ: Another magazine which I may try to recreate is Drapers, on the account of it being a street-wear fashion magazine: My third option i could attempt to recreate for this practical task is XXL on the account of it being a music magazine: 2) Select your chosen magazine to create a new edition for and explain the thinking behind your choice. I have chosen to recreate Drapers as i believe that magazine is the most relatable to a teenage audience and due to the strong connection Drapers magazine have with daily fashion therefore teenagers can be very relatable to this magazine and i can recreate the magazine well enough for audiences to feel interacted with the audience. With GQ I believe their audience is of a older generation therefore may be hard for m,e to aim my magazine cover towards them. 3) Find  three  different front covers for your chosen magazine and embed th...
