1) Why did you choose the text you are analyzing?


As the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise is one of the most well renown franchises across the world, therefore, i believe it is a good media text to analyze.  

2) In what context did you encounter it?


3) What influence do you think this context might have had on your interpretation of the text?


4) To what genre did you initially assign the text?



had initially assigned the text to an adventure genre due to a number of adventure conventions a pirate movie tends to have as well as the fact that there is a certain end goal that must be meet for the main actor to accomplish his goals. Furthermore, previous Pirates of the Caribbean films have very similar conventions and was proclaimed that it was an adventure film as well.

5) What is your experience of this genre?
I tend to love adventure films as it is a clear and understandable concept with a clear objective the star has to meet or overcome.

6) What subject matter and basic themes is the text concerned with? 


7) How typical of the genre is this text in terms of content? 
It tends to have a generic and similar concept in regular films due to it having certain conventions that follow every film through which makes the film an adventure film or an action film. as well as the frequent action scenes make it a clear adventure film.

8) What expectations do you have about texts in this genre?


I generally have high and expectations of adventure films as it must meet certain film conventions, therefore, should be meet making me have quite high expectations.

11) Which conventions of the genre do you recognise in the text?

The General conventions that people tend to recognize in the Pirates Of the Caribbean are several fighting scenes as well as a love interest tends to be in several films.

12) To what extent does this text stretch the conventions of its genre?


13) Where and why does the text depart from the conventions of the genre?
As within the film it has elements of more action based scenes occurring then it would in the year that it is based in the film therefore incorporating current elements of action/adventure films.
14) Which conventions seem more like those of a different genre (and which genre(s))?
there is a large element of romance as their is a major love interest in several films within the series therefore some could say romance as another genre used in this film

1) What sort of audience did you feel that the text was aimed at (and how typical was this of the genre)?
generally male young audience as humour is sometimes based at that audience as well as fitted the genre quite well.

2) How does the text address you?
it has comedy that is quite easy to understand and can work and making someone like me laugh

3) What sort of person does it assume you are?

It has a tendency to be aimed towards a male for some of the humour used
